At this site, aroud
the small Buddist temple that was built by a Buddhist
monk approximately 60 years ago under mysterious circumstances,
the statutes of 16 ¡°Nahansang¡± (Budda¡¯s disciple) and
29 ¡°Bucho-sang¡± (Buddha) was exquisitely sculptured
into the cliff walls in front of Geumjeong-san Mountain.
02. SangGye-bong

It has been called
¡°Sanghak-san¡± as its shape resembles a crane. The legend
says that the mountain labeled ¡°Sanggye-bong¡± because
its peak was the highest among the surrounding and the
day break appeared to occur here first.

The fact that the Daecheon-cheon flows through the
west entrance of geumjeong castle has made the westgate
a famous site.

The Daecheon-cheon Valley in Hwamyeong
which is famous for its clear water and beauty is favorite
Place if leisure for Buk Gu inhabitants. The river flows
into the valley through the ¡°Sukumoon¡±(water-gate) from
Sarnsong-maul at Dodang-bong, Geumjeong-san Mountain.
There is also ¡°Aegi-so¡±(pond) hidden among the pine
trees. The legend says that a mother once lost her own
baby here because she was captivated by the surrounding
beauty.

These two structures have not only protected the town
from the dangers of flooding since their construction
in 1935 and 1933 respectively. They have also provided
the local in habitants with places to take leisurely strolls
during the evenings or on weekends.
